Akooramak Care of the Older Persons is seeking a Maintenance Officer/Handyman to join our team.
The Maintenance Officer will play a hands-on role in maintaining our facility for the comfort and safety of our residents. You will be joining a team of maintenance officers who perform general maintenance and repairs to the facility.
Your duties may include:
General maintenance or handyman skills, including routine minor repairs, minor carpentry, general painting, tiling, minor plumbing tasks.
Undertake general maintenance officer duties, including but not limited to fixing blinds, doors, lightbulbs, locks, within current regulations and standards
Moving furniture and equipment for residents
Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance tasks across buildings, equipment, and grounds as required.
Do weekly bin runs and bottle exchange program.
Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the maintenance shed and storerooms.
Steam clean, pressure wash and tidy the facility grounds
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from our residents with a can-do-attitude
Assisting with delivery of stores/deliveries and equipment throughout the facility
You need effective communication skills for positive interactions with residents, staff, and contractors.
You will
Be competent in the use of hand/power machinery tools
Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards
Sound computer skills
Have a good knowledge of common maintenance tasks
Current ''C" class license is preferred
Permanent working rights in Australia
National Police Check is essential
