Role Overview
Based primarily at the Camellia Depot, Parramatta, protection officers manage On‐Track and Isolation permits, ensuring that work parties comply with permit conditions and that safety is maintained. The role serves as the critical communications link between work parties and the Network Control Centre, provides track protection and safety monitoring, keeps detailed records of all track protection activities, and supports engineers and technicians in planning and managing works within the asset management system. Assisting on the Sydney Light Rail network may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate On‐Track and Isolation permits and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
* Act as the communications link between work parties and the Network Control Centre.
* Monitor compliance with rail safety regulations and company policies.
* Maintain detailed records of track protection activities, incidents and safety breaches.
* Provide support to engineers and technicians for work planning within the asset management system.
* Assist on the Sydney Light Rail network when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Your experience as a PICOW / Protection Officer, supported by a Track Protection Officer certificate, RIW and a White Card (or willingness to obtain), is essential. You should also:
* Be able to manage competing priorities in a deadline‐driven environment while maintaining an uncompromising safety attitude.
* Influence and build effective working relationships both internally and externally with a focus on stakeholder engagement.
* Work independently and as part of a broader team.
