The RoleOur Band-1 Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) practice offers a rare and rewarding opportunity for an early-career lawyer to join our team based in Sydney.Working closely with industry-leading partner Nick Thomas and other senior practitioners, you will join a high-performing, well-respected team passionate about environment, planning, and sustainability. This role involves working on diverse matters including strategic and policy advice, major projects and transactions, litigation, and dispute resolution.Under the mentorship of senior team members, you will have the opportunity to work with a significant degree of autonomy and develop your technical and client skills.You will act for clients such as Federal, State, and local government agencies, as well as ASX100 listed and multinational corporations.Skills & ExperienceAt least 2 years PQE gained within a reputable commercial law firm;Excellent academic results;Experience in environment and planning law, including transactional, advisory, and litigious matters;Strong drafting skills with attention to detail;Effective communication and interpersonal skills;A collaborative, proactive approach and the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, counsel, junior lawyers, and other stakeholders.The Environment & Sustainable Development TeamOur ESD team is recognized as one of only two Tier-1 teams in Australia, leading in environment and planning law, ESG, climate change, sustainability, water, energy, resources, and regulated industries, as well as project-based land acquisition and access.
