Department for Infrastructure and Transport
Job reference: 699955
Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE
Job status: Long Term Contract
Eligibility: Open to Everyone
At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city’s public transport network.
Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community.
We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Site Engineer to join the Contract Management Directorate, where you'll play a key role in delivering major transport infrastructure projects that shape South Australia’s future.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of construction and maintenance works — ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You'll also contribute to contract administration, including claims assessment, variations, and progress payments.
Beyond the site, you'll provide technical input into project planning and design, support contract management, and help ensure compliance with departmental procedures. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll collaborate closely with contractors, project teams, and key stakeholders.
If you're passionate about infrastructure, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a real impact — we’d love to hear from you.
About you
You’re someone who can work confidently on your own but also knows the value of working with others to get the best results. You enjoy building strong relationships and working with different people to keep projects moving in the right direction.
You’re good at tackling challenges, sorting out conflicts, and finding solutions that keep everyone on track. With solid analytical skills, you can break down complex information and turn it into clear, practical advice — even when deadlines are tight.
You stay organised, set priorities well, and keep things running smoothly. You communicate clearly, share your knowledge in a way people understand, and help your team stay focused on what matters. You also keep an eye on industry changes and know how to manage risks, so the projects you work on deliver real benefits for the community.
