Working arrangements: The contractor will work from the specified office location (Brisbane) for a minimum of 6 weeks before WFH will be considered. Any WFH will require the contractor to work in the specified office location a minimum of 3 days per week.

Contract extensions: 2 x 12 months
Security clearance: Must have a current Negative Vetting Level 1
Rates: $100 - $130 per hour (inc. super)
About the role
Services Australia is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The Senior Gateway Engineer uses their in-depth knowledge of ICT platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms. They work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure a robust gateway infrastructure capability for the business, and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of day-to-day technical operations. Senior Gateway Engineers exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on high-level judgement and wider agency implications, with work performed under the guidance of senior staff.
Responsibilities
* Design/evaluate/implement infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demand
* Provide expert technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities
* Prepare, review and maintain documentation such as design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures
* Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy and procedures, and change initiatives
* Participate in change management processes and communicate end-to-end implications of configuration changes
* Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to the senior executive
* Share knowledge and mentor less experienced colleagues
* Undertake research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on product suitability for the agency
* Engage with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability
* Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes
* Encourage innovation, continuous improvement and manage change; contribute to ICT strategy
* Manage the operation of backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions for IT systems
* Manage regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers
* Manage the administration and operation of the Gateway network kit
Qualifications
Knowledge/Qualifications
1. At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large scale data centre networking environment.
2. Demonstrated experience in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
3. Demonstrated experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco Data Centre technologies (ACI, routers, Nexus switches) and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
4. Demonstrated experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions.
5. Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) solutions.
6. Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services.
7. Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
8. Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.
Essential Criteria
1. At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large scale data centre networking environment.
Desirable Criteria
1. Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
