Overview
Registered Nurse Supported Introduction to Paediatrics Program (SIPP) is a structured 12-month initiative designed to support Registered Nurses transitioning into Paediatric and Neonatal nursing. Commencing in February 2026, the program offers temporary part-time positions of 32 hours per week and provides a unique opportunity to gain specialised paediatric clinical experience within a supportive learning environment.
The program includes two six-month rotations across clinical areas at John Hunter Children's Hospital and may include Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paediatric Surgery/Oncology, Paediatric Medical, Adolescent/Day Stay & Paediatric Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
* Develop clinical competence in caring for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents, and their families.
* Develop key skills and knowledge in child development and common paediatric conditions; paediatric assessment and pharmacology; pain assessment and management; recognition and escalation of clinical deterioration; medication safety; and safe and holistic care of paediatric patients.
Qualifications
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
Where You'll Be Working
The John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH) is located in Newcastle NSW and provides a tertiary-level Paediatric facility with complex Medical, Surgical, Major Trauma, and Neonatal Services for Northern NSW.
Remuneration and Employment Details
* Remuneration: $36.39 - $51.09 Per Hour + 12% Super + Salary Packaging
* Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until February 2027
