About the Directorate

The Finance Directorate is currently undergoing a strategic transformation focused on embedding strong people leadership, driving cultural change, and delivering customer-centric services. About the role

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Finance Business Partnering Services, leads and delivers high quality strategic and operational finance services and advice across the department's education support divisions.

This role partners closely with divisional executives to support budget planning, monitoring and reporting with a detailed understanding of business strategies and investment priorities.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you can showcase your strategic finance expertise, delivering major reform initiatives and outcomes that will directly impact the future direction for divisions within the agency.

About you

As a seasoned finance and leadership professional you will play a pivotal role in influencing decisions and driving financial performance across your portfolio.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams within a complex and dynamic environment, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Demonstrated senior experience in overseeing high quality, strategic financial partnering services with a strong understanding of business deliverables.
* Proven experience to confidently partner with senior executives and non-finance stakeholders with extensive experience across finance/decision support/business partnering.
* Strong track record in designing and implementing financial services and solutions that meet the evolving needs of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring high levels of engagement, transparency, and customer satisfaction.
* Expertise in leading complex change initiatives, including extensive people leadership to promote innovation, inclusiveness and enhance operational efficiency.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships, influence key stakeholders, and drive alignment between finance and business units.
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as finance, accounting or business or and/or equivalent knowledge and experience. Membership of a recognised professional accounting body is desirable.
* Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
* Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large complex organisation.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

As a leader you will join an executive team focused on driving improved ways of working to deliver meaningful and long-lasting impact. You will be collaborative, courageous, agile, and disciplined about delivering outcomes for the students of NSW.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years).
