About Us

We are Australia’s national peak rights and advocacy organisation for people with disability, advancing and protecting the rights, health and wellbeing of the people and communities we serve. Our vision is of a socially just, accessible and inclusive community, in which the human rights, belonging, contribution, potential and diversity of all people with disability are recognised, respected and celebrated with pride.

Our Values

- Community focused – We take pride in delivering high-quality service to our customers, colleagues, clients, members and broader disability community.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Advocate who share our values, to provide issue-based advocacy support to people with disability living in the Sunshine Coast region. Note: This is a fully remote position. Applicants must have access to a suitable and private home workspace that supports confidentiality and productivity.

Here are our non-negotiables

- You reside in the Sunshine Coast region.
- You have a demonstrated understanding of disability rights and relevant legislation.
- You have experience supporting clients in distress and navigating feedback and complaints.
- You have a commitment to trauma-informed and culturally competent practice.
- You have exceptional communication skills.
- You have experience using a client management system and managing client files and information.

Bonus points if you have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or lived experience of disability.

- Award Classification: Level 5 Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS) Award 2010
- PWDA pays above-award rates as per our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement
- Option for Salary Packaging to increase take home pay
- Additional leave provisions in addition to the Award
