Your Role
The Orange Door offers help and support to families experiencing complex needs and risk issues across various service areas: Family Services, Child Protection, Family Violence, Disability, Housing, Mental Health, and Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Based at The Orange Door Maryborough, you will join an integrated team providing specialist services to children and young people entering The Orange Door. As a Practitioner, your focus will be on risk assessment, engagement, initial response, and serving as a source of information for referrals. Your responsibilities include:
1. Screening, triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions;
2. Allocation of services and referral coordination;
3. Collaborative work with the Hub team for risk assessment and planning, including participating in case conferences and stakeholder meetings.

Conduct child safety assessments.
Understand child and family vulnerability to assess risk.
Work effectively with children and families, especially where complex needs and risks are present.
Support clients exposed to trauma with resilience and sensitivity.
Identify, assess, and prioritize risks and needs using a whole-family approach.
Recognize the limits of your expertise and refer clients to specialists when necessary.

A mandatory minimum qualification policy applies for specialist family violence practitioners from 1 July 2021.

* Hold a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent, or
* Be working towards or meet the new qualification requirements via available pathways.
