Diabetes SA is a long-standing and trusted health organisation supporting over 17,000 members across South Australia. As the prevalence of diabetes continues to rise, the organisation plays a vital role in supporting people affected by diabetes through education, advocacy, research and support services. With a committed membership base, growing strategic partnerships, and a focus on evidence-based programs, the organisation is entering a transformational chapter. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will have the opportunity to mobilise and benefit from a committed membership base, growing strategic partnerships, and a range of established evidence-based programs. In this pivotal role, you will lead the organisation’s strategic direction, operational delivery and cultural leadership. You will be responsible for driving sustainable growth and enhancing financial performance. You will expand Diabetes SA’s influence through advocacy supported by government and media relations and deliver meaningful outcomes for members and the broader community. In addition, the CEO will represent Diabetes SA in high-profile forums, foster partnerships across government, community, health and corporate sectors and lead a committed team in delivering innovative, mission-aligned services.
This role will require clear strategic vision, confident decision-making and the capability to shift the organisation’s focus outward through maintaining and strengthening relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including national and state peak bodies, political and departmental representatives, academic institutions, donors and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities. A seasoned executive with experience leading organisational change, you will be financially astute with the ability to apply commercial thinking to a "Profit for Purpose" model.
You will possess a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement, governance and service delivery and be a clear and confident communicator, capable of inspiring teams, influencing decision-makers and navigating ambiguity. Your leadership style is values-driven and transparent, with a track record of aligning people, systems and strategy. While experience in the health or not-for-profit sectors is advantageous, success in this role will be defined by your ability to drive transformation, manage risk and advance the organisation as the leading voice of diabetes care and advocacy in South Australia.
