Position Information
Kentish and Latrobe Councils are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Senior Administration Officer to lead the coordination, preparation and publication of Council meeting agendas and minutes, ensuring full compliance with legislative and governance requirements.
This shared role across Kentish and Latrobe Councils is central to the effective functioning of Council. The position has a primary focus on the end-to-end management of Council agendas and minutes, including collation of reports, quality control, legislative compliance, timely publication and maintenance of accurate records. This work underpins transparent decision-making, statutory compliance and sound governance across both organisations.
In addition to this core responsibility, the role provides high-level administrative, governance and executive support to the Mayor, Councillors and General Manager. Duties include maintaining statutory registers, delegations and policies, preparing briefing notes and correspondence, managing corporate documents and records, and providing accurate advice on the Local Government Act 1993 and Meeting Procedures Regulations. The position also supports civic events, official visits and key governance processes.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in agenda and minute preparation, governance administration and executive support, preferably within local government or the public sector. You will bring exceptional written communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational capability and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a confidential and high-pressure environment.
This role suits a governance professional who values accuracy, compliance and integrity, and who is motivated by ensuring Council meetings are conducted efficiently, transparently and to a high standard.
About Us
The Latrobe and Kentish Councils are located adjacent to each other in the north-west of Tasmania and cover an area from the coastal beaches of Port Sorell to the Highland regions of Mount Roland and Cradle Mountain.
Latrobe and Kentish Councils value collaboration and partnerships both within and outside their municipalities. As part of their business model, the Councils have entered into a resource-sharing arrangement. This allows both Councils to deliver services and outcomes for their respective communities to gain benefits that may have been otherwise unattainable.
Since the inception of the resource sharing arrangements in 2010, the number of resources shared has steadily grown and the two Councils now operate as one organisation with each Council retaining their respective elected representatives.
