Role Overview:
* Main Goal: Make smart deals to optimize energy use and costs for our Australian operations, while supporting safety, cost efficiency, and environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership: Ensure our supply needs align with the market. Manage suppliers, contracts, and track performance to keep costs low and supply steady.
* Commercial Management: Oversee all external energy spending to ensure business continuity and the best commercial outcomes.
What You Need to Know:
* Energy Markets: Understand the energy markets relevant to our operations.
* Contracts: Know the key terms and commercial levers in our contracts.
* Legislation: Be aware of the legislative requirements and their impact (e.g., Carbon tax).
Strategic Tasks:
* Optimize Spend: Analyze opportunities to optimize energy spend and mix, minimizing supply risks.
* Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with operations, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
* Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Sustainability, Technology, Planning & Development teams, and external energy bodies.
Project Management:
* Delivery Models: Evaluate whether to insource or outsource projects.
* Contract Negotiations: Lead negotiations with vendors and manage contracts effectively.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders for endorsements and approvals.
* Documentation: Complete necessary internal documentation and approvals.
Renewable Energy:
* Initiatives: Lead or support trials and initiatives for renewable energy options.
* Market Knowledge: Stay updated on energy market innovations and share knowledge.
* Mentorship: Lead, coach, and mentor team members to meet performance targets.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with supply category management processes.
Shared Accountabilities:
* Treasury: Ensure contracts align with corporate covenants.
Decision Rights:
* Sourcing Strategy: Develop and plan sourcing strategies for a spend of ~US$150M to US$300M.
* Supplier Management: Oversee supply processes and supplier performance.
* Contract Approvals: Recommend approvals for all contracts in the category.
