About the Role
Reporting to the Fixed Plant Electrical Superintendent (Mine) and in collaboration with other Electrical Supervisors you will guide and build a team of Electrical Technicians. You will safely deliver electrical maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with weekly maintenance schedules, operating standards, procedures and defined processes to achieve optimal maintenance outcomes for Mine Fixed Plant operations.
This position is based at Olympic Dam, South Australia and operates on a 7 on / 7 off Day shift roster with residential, DIDO, FIFO from Adelaide, or Bus in/Bus out options from Adelaide, Port Pirie or Port Augusta.
Responsibilities
- Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing, and coaching your team
- Identify, build, and develop team capability through ongoing coaching and development
- Prioritise the execution of work based on risk to prevent unplanned failures and supervise the weekly work schedule
- Plan and schedule break-in work based on risk of equipment failure within a 7-day period
- Allocate resources to achieve optimal maintenance outcomes as part of work activity and planning
- Offer continued development and mentorship to your team and ensure competency of individual maintainers in safe performance
- Development and authorization of HV switching programs to facilitate outages and access for maintenance, repairs and additions in line with the BHP Olympic Dam Permit to Work system
- Provide support in development, writing and checking of High Voltage switching programs; assist with HV system isolations and restorations
- Promote and follow standards and procedures to work safely and effectively
- Ensure safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to through frequent inspections
- Provide support to Electrical teams and mentoring as needed
- HV and LV switchboard commissioning and testing
- Generator and Transformer testing and commissioning
- Protection Relay programming and testing
- Preparation of commissioning/testing documentation & protection test plans
- Detailed technical reports on completion of works
- Assist planning groups with the 5-year plan, 3-month rolling plan (3MRP) and in-month mine scheduling requirements and compliances (STS)
- Liaise with contractors for maintenance and repairs to Mine Electrical Infrastructure (Surface and Underground)
- HV and LV expansion and customer demands (Future)
- Work with site HV Network Engineering to ensure system stability and care and custody
- Liaise with Mine Fixed Plant Maintenance Reliability regarding system maintenance and strategy requirements (BHP and statutory)
- Liaise with Engineering & HV Protection Team on E-TAP Modelling and system protection/testing for statutory compliance
- Provide SME guidance for system repairs and remediation
- Supervise reports and lead a team of LV Reticulation specialists and STS Planners/Schedulers
- Document updates and reviews using the BHP Deswick drawing/drafting system
- Plan, coordinate and supervise special in-house projects (transformer change outs, oil replacement programs, HV equipment repairs/remediation)
- Project design reviews and department consultation for these work packages
Qualifications & About You
- Lead by example with safety leadership; hold self and others accountable
- Electrical Trade qualification or degree in related Electrical discipline
- South Australian Electrical Licence or ability to acquire
- Experience in Maintenance Execution environments as a supervisor/leader is preferred
- Understand statutory compliance requirements
- Ability to work across multiple disciplines and levels to foster relationships
- Quality-focused with drive to achieve results; ability to balance priorities and meet customer expectations
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Commitment to wellbeing and speaking up about safety
- Self-motivated, driven and focused on high performance with safety first
- Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
- High Voltage Switching experience
- Current driver's licence; experience in HV/LV maintenance and testing
