**Job Title:** Postdoctoral Researcher in Peptide Based Drug Discovery
About the Opportunity:
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct research focused on developing new approaches for pharmaceutical lead discovery using mRNA display.
The research program is co-funded by the Australian Research Council and INSAMO, and the successful candidate will work at the University of Sydney's Camperdown campus.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Prof. Joel Mackay and Prof. Richard Payne's research groups and a postdoctoral peptide chemist to design and select candidate cyclic peptides using mRNA display.
* Characterize the structure and biochemical activity of candidate peptides and assess their ability to degrade protein targets in cell-based assays.
* Assist in supervising junior group members, including PhD candidates and undergraduates.
About You:
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with expertise in recombinant DNA technology, protein expression and purification, and protein biophysics and structural biology.
A PhD (or near completion) in protein biochemistry or a closely related discipline is required.
