Applications are invited for a full-time Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Hervey Bay. This role provides the opportunity to work in a busy, multidisciplinary diagnostic laboratory, supporting the delivery of accurate and timely results that directly contribute to patient care.
The role involves working rotating shifts between 0630 and 1830, Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call roster after hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine and specialised diagnostic testing across Haematology, Biochemistry, Blood Banking, STAT Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology
* Run, monitor, and interpret quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
* Analyse, interpret, and report results in line with laboratory and accreditation standards
* Comply with WHS policies and procedures at all times
* Assist with inventory control and stock management

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated Laboratory Scientist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to producing accurate, high-quality results. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
* A degree in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)
* Experience in a multidisciplinary laboratory is desirable; however, recent graduates are encouraged to apply, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while contributing effectively within a team environment
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A high level of commitment to accuracy, quality standards, and laboratory turnaround times
