Geotechnical Engineer
At Glencore, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. Located in Mount Isa, Queensland, this role will play a crucial part in the success of one of Australia's oldest and most complex mining operations.

This role offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous superannuation contributions and discounts at numerous retail establishments. The position reports directly to the Superintendent of Geotechnical Engineering and requires residential or FIFO arrangements.
Your Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with Ground Control Management plan and QLD Mining Quarrying and Safety ACT are maintained.
2. Train and mentor Geotechnical Engineers and provide ground awareness training to site personnel.
3. Conduct and report empirical and numerical modelling results of new mining blocks.
4. Record and interrogate monitoring instrumentation, report, and develop action plans in conjunction with operations and planning engineers.
5. Ground support product trials and reporting to optimise ground support designs.
6. Achieve department KPIs and performance reporting.
Requirements:
1. Post-secondary diploma, bachelor's degree, or certification in Engineering or Geoscience, specialising in Mining or Geotechnical fields.
2. Minimum 6 years of experience in underground hard rock mining.
3. Proficiency in team collaboration, clear communication, adept problem-solving, and critical analysis.
4. High level of accuracy in work and ability to manage time effectively.
5. Competence in using software packages: Rocscience, Deswik, Leapfrog, FLAC.
6. Sound knowledge of risk management, safety systems, and legislative requirements.
