Community Engagement Lead

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, leading aspects of the communications and engagement program with direction from the Program Community & Stakeholder Engagement Manager. They will have prior experience leading communications and engagement during the construction/delivery phase of major infrastructure programs, and will be looking for the opportunity to contribute to long-term water infrastructure projects as part of a large team.
This role is based in Parramatta, with project sites across Western Sydney. The majority of their time will be spent in the office or at project sites, with hybrid and flexible working available.
We deliver major programs and projects across various sectors including water, energy, defence, health, and transport.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading community and landowner engagement matters, knowing when to escalate issues to the Program Community & Stakeholder Engagement Manager.
* Working with stakeholders to develop and implement community engagement plans to engage impacted communities and customers.
* Contribution to a positive team culture and participation in continual improvement.
* Developing consultancy and project management skills, in line with our global career framework.
Requirements:
* Extensive relevant community and stakeholder engagement experience.
* IAP2 Certificate and demonstrated experience in applying this framework to develop engagement plans.
* A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, sustainability, environmental science / management, urban planning, engineering, or other social science disciplines.
* Previous experience delivering communications and engagement on infrastructure projects.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, high levels of emotional intelligence, and strong attention to detail.
* Prior experience working in an inter-disciplinary team and mentoring more junior team members.
