Primary objective
Provide high level analysis, oversight and governance of elective surgery waitlist and theatre data corrections across TEHS ICT systems.
Interpret and monitor complex elective surgery waitlist and theatre data to support patient safety and informed strategic. Provide
operational decision making through identifying and resolving system and administrative data corrections, conducting patient records
audits and ensuring high standards of data quality, integrity and compliance across episode management.
Context statement
The Data Analyst operates within a complex multi-site acute healthcare environment, provides critical data corrections and audit support
to the Division of Surgery and Critical Care. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of elective surgery
and theatre data monitoring the high-risk workflows and escalating identified systematic issues. The requirement of the role is to analyse
and highlight data quality issues, system and administrative errors and operational risk.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Access, analyse, interpret and monitor complex elective surgery waitlist theatre data across TEHS Hospitals ICT Systems and databases
2. Ensure patient safety, through accurate data management, validation and monitoring of elective surgery and theatre activity
3. Identify, investigate and resolve system and administrative data errors impacting waitlist and theatre data to ensure data integrity is
maintained
4. Conduct patient record audits to ensure data integrity, accuracy and compliance with reporting and business requirements
5. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders (internal and external) to maintain strong relationships.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience collecting and analysing complex data to extract insights that inform departmental priorities and drive continuous
improvement.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft, Power BI and other analytical tools.
3. Attention to detail, with the ability to manage large volumes of data while consistently maintaining high standards of accuracy and
quality assurance.
4. Proven experience in analysing and managing complex healthcare data sets, including elective surgery waitlist and theatre data
monitoring validation and reporting
5. Proven ability to identify data quality issues, system faults and administrative errors and implement corrective actions.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and analysis, with experience in auditing patient records and maintaining a high standard
of data integrity and accuracy.
7. Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, with a demonstrated ability to present data and
information to internal and external key stakeholders
8. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, timely information in a high-pressure healthcare environment
Desirable
1. Knowledge of issues impacting data collection and the delivery of government services across the Northern Territory.
2. Knowledge of ICT systems across TEHS Hospitals with and understanding of Elective Surgery Waitlist processes.
