Head of Safety: Leading the Way in Workplace Excellence
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Safety to spearhead safety initiatives across all sites. Reporting to the General Manager, you will shape the company-wide safety culture, set strategic direction, and ensure initiatives align with business goals. Providing leadership and direction to the HSE Manager (and HSE Advisors), you will work closely with operational teams to focus on leadership, continuous improvement, strategic oversight, and safety culture within operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy and long-term vision for our organisation
* Collaborate with operational and business leaders to ensure that the Workplace Health and Safety Plan is met and exceeded
* Foster a strong safety culture across multi-site operations and all levels of the organisation, promoting a culture of accountability and transparency
* Eembed WHS responsibilities within leadership and supervisory roles, ensuring that everyone understands their role in maintaining a safe working environment
* Analyse incident trends and provide data-driven recommendations to executive leadership to inform decision-making and drive improvements
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety culture, engagement, and performance, driving a culture of innovation and excellence
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure effective communication and collaboration
* Ensure that our organisation meets or exceeds legislative and compliance requirements in all areas of safety, maintaining a strong reputation for workplace excellence
This role requires you to interact and influence at the highest levels of the organisation, as well as be able to dip into day-to-day safety operations in peak or critical periods, providing on-site leadership presence and expertise.
Requirements:
To succeed in this challenging and rewarding role, you will need:
* Cert IV in Work Health and Safety
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (highly advantageous)
* Incident Investigation Qualifications & Experience desirable (such as ICAM, 5 Why's, Human Factors etc)
* Current Australian 'C' Class Licence or above
* Senior-level experience in safety leadership, preferably in crane operations, mining services or a similar industry
* A strategic thinker with a proven ability to shape culture and influence leaders, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* A strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and safety governance
