About The Role
Reporting to prison management within the Corrective Services division, you will operate a construction and maintenance workshop, overseeing building, assembly, and repair functions that support prison operations. You will supervise a team of officers and instructors, manage day‐to‐day workshop activities, and provide accredited on‐the‐job training and instruction to prisoners, empowering them with transferable trade skills. This is a hands‐on leadership role that calls for someone who is organised, resilient, and committed to quality outcomes in a secure environment.
Responsibilities
* Operate a construction and maintenance workshop, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
* Supervise and mentor a team of officers and instructors.
* Plan and schedule day‐to‐day workshop activities to support prison operations.
* Deliver accredited on‐the‐job training and instruction to prisoners.
* Maintain accurate records, report on work progress, and provide feedback to management.
Eligibility
Applicants Must Have Either Of The Following Qualifications
* Certificate III in a Construction Trade (e.g., Brick and Block Laying, Carpentry and Joinery)
* Certificate III in Building and Construction
* Certificate III in Building Maintenance
* Certificate III in Appliance Service
Additional Requirements
* A current valid Construction Induction Training accreditation (White Card)
* A current valid Class C Driver's Licence
* A valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 or equivalent)
