About the Role:
We're seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker on a Part-Time (25 hours per week, 1pm - 5pm Monday to Friday) 6-month contract to support Foster and Kinship Carers, and children and young people, within our Foster and Kinship Care division. You'll work closely with families, community partners, and agencies to ensure safe, culturally appropriate, and nurturing placements. You'll bring a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to carer engagement and play a key role in upholding the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld), the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles, Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Assist with carer practical supports, activities, and transport.
* Assist with family contact arrangements.
* Provide support to case practitioners to ensure stable placements.
* Engage respectfully with children, families, and carers, prioritising cultural identity and voice.
* Maintain accurate documentation in line with legislative and organisational standards.
* Build relationships with Elders and cultural advisors to guide culturally safe practice.
* Participate in reflective practice, cultural supervision, and service improvement.

Requirements/Qualifications:
* Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or related field.
* Strong knowledge of Queensland's legislative and policy framework.
* Proven experience working in or alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Skilled in case management, assessment, risk identification, and trauma-informed care.
* Sound understanding of the challenges and complexities experienced by foster carers, including the impact of trauma and system-related pressures.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to engage respectfully and clearly with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Current QLD Driver License.
* Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
* Ability to obtain a satisfactory LCS check and National Police Check
