A major regional hospital in Queensland is seeking an experienced and visionary physician to step into the role of Clinical Director of Medicine. The Opportunity:
As Clinical Director, you will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across the Department of Medicine. You will oversee service planning, performance, safety, workforce development, and clinical governance activities while working closely with the broader Medical and Critical Care leadership teams.
This role offers a blend of senior management responsibilities and ongoing clinical practice, allowing you to remain engaged in the care of patients while shaping the future of medical services for the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Department of Medicine, including strategic planning and service development
Support new models of care to improve access, efficiency, and patient outcomes
Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, consumer-focused medical services
Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, performance development and supervision
Collaborate with Executive, Critical Care, and senior clinicians across the health service
Drive quality, safety, risk management and accreditation activities
Contribute to clinical governance systems and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain an active clinical workload within your specialty
About You:
You are a senior physician with:
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
* AHPRA specialist registration (or eligibility to obtain)
* Proven leadership capability at a senior level within a hospital setting
* Strong understanding of clinical governance, safety systems, and service delivery
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
* Commitment to developing junior doctors and fostering a positive learning culture
* Passion for improving regional healthcare and patient experience

Remuneration & Benefits:
Generous senior medical officer package including:
* Total remuneration up to $517,000–$562,000 p.a. (L24–L27)
* Base salary paid at specialist level (L18–L27)
* Employer superannuation contribution up to 12.75%
* Annual leave loading 17.5%

* Professional development allowance + 3.6 weeks PDL
* Professional indemnity cover
* Overtime and on-call allowances
* Permanent full-time appointment (80 hours per fortnight)
