About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Events Lead to manage the attraction, planning, production, delivery, marketing, and evaluation of high-quality, safe, and inclusive events that engage the local community and attract visitors to the city. Whilst building a team for a growing service within Council, you will be responsible for:
1. Developing and implementing event strategies, plans and policies to grow the economy, foster community pride and participation, and facilitate collaboration with local event operators and the tourism industry.
2. Providing strategic event advice, support, and guidance to executive and council staff.
3. Working with Council’s Communications and Engagement team to manage event marketing and promotions, including Council’s events calendar.
4. Managing effective regional event attraction activities including bid preparation, grant applications, reporting and acquittals.
5. Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with event organisers, promoters, sponsors, government agencies, emergency services, third party event companies, suppliers, venue owners and managers to ensure Councils events and objectives are met.
6. Preparing professional reports, briefings, proposals, submissions, and contracts relating to events.

So, what do you need?
13. Tertiary qualification in events management or related discipline, and/or extensive demonstrated experience.
14. Driver’s license.
15. High level communication skills, both written and verbal
16. Excellent organisational and planning skills, including the ability to manage your own work program.
