Job Description
WT in Brisbane continues to secure a number of high-profile projects and in line with this unparalleled growth, the QLD office is expanding, in particular the M&E and Services team are looking for an established Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor to join their talented team.
A Senior Quantity Surveyor specialising in MEP plays a pivotal role in managing and delivering complex cost engineering and quantity surveying assignments across a diverse range of sectors including infrastructure, defence, health, water, energy and high-performance buildings.
This role will provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and contribute to WT's reputation for excellence in building services cost intelligence, from feasibility through to delivery and asset optimisation.
This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with commercial curiosity and thrives on solving complex challenges alongside great people.
Core Responsibilities
* Lead cost planning, estimating and measurement for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire systems across multiple project phases.
* Prepare and review Bills of Quantities, detailed estimates and cost models in accordance with WT methodology and relevant standards (NRM / ANZSMM / PCEM)
* Undertake benchmarking, value engineering and lifecycle cost analysis for MEP systems
* Conduct risk and contingency assessments, including P50 / P90 analysis
* Coordinate with design teams to ensure MEP design development aligns with budget and performance requirements
* Provide cost verification, contractor claims evaluation and variation assessments during construction
* Review and maintain MEP cost date and benchmarking relevant to Queensland, ensuring pricing reflects current market conditions and regional variations
* Build and maintain strong client relationships founded on trust, delivery and value creation
* Act as the primary WT representative for MEP-related advice with multidisciplinary teams
* Support Project Directors in the preparation of proposals, fee bids and project reporting
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field / trade experience equivalent
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in cost engineering or construction cost estimating
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of engineering materials, building regulations, and construction methods
* Experience with estimating software and tools
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
