The Assistant Director is responsible for managing a claims processing service delivery function which is client focused and oversees the management of staff who may undertake the registration, investigation, determination and in some areas, the ongoing management of benefits under the relevant legislation. The occupant must have highly developed leadership and communication skills, initiative, analytical skills and an ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
**Duties**
- Oversee the operations of the service delivery function to ensure relevant activities and outcomes are achieved in a client and quality focused manner.
- Manage, and monitor performance including reporting and analysis of service delivery teams and compliance with quality and service delivery standards.
- Provide direction to the team and direct staff through mentoring, coaching and performance management.
- Review complex and sensitive issues relating to stakeholders including working directly with veterans/clients/representatives and negotiating positive outcomes.
- Undertake recruitment activity when appropriate to ensure teams are trained and resourced appropriately to meet service standards.
- Drive innovation and improvement in service delivery, champion continuous improvement, veteran centric culture and promote a positive team culture focused on inclusion, collaboration and operational excellence.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the section and provide input into operational, compliance, and general management issues.
- Ad hoc tasks within the incumbent's area of expertise as directed.
