About your role
As a Specialist Anaesthetist, you will provide expert anaesthetic services across operating theatres, endoscopy, and outpatient procedure units.
In this role, you will
Deliver high-quality anaesthetic care, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative management.
Supervise and teach registrars, resident medical officers, and medical students.
Participate in the after-hours and weekend on-call roster.
Contribute to departmental planning, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure best practice standards, patient safety, and compliance with ANZCA and Queensland Health guidelines.
Engage collaboratively across surgical and multidisciplinary teams to support patient-centred outcomes.
Model professionalism, clinical leadership, and respect in all patient and staff interactions.
About you
You are an experienced and motivated Anaesthetist who brings expertise, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning.
To be successful in this role, you will have
MBBS or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent specialist qualification (or eligibility via Expedited Specialist Pathway).
Demonstrated clinical expertise in anaesthesia and related areas (e.g., pain management).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, teach, and mentor others.
Proven ability in service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement.
Commitment to patient safety, ethical decision-making, and continuous education.

We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.
We're making our hospital bigger and better to make it easier for our growing community to get the health care they need.
