Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Information Theory

(pro‑rated) plus 17% superannuation. The position is a 12‑month fixed‑term, full‑time or part‑time role located at the Camperdown Campus, School of Physics.

Responsibilities
* Demonstrate research excellence and publish original research
* Develop research collaborations within our theory group and with other universities and industry
* Participate in research student supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate level
* Develop your profile through conferences and seminars
* Contribute to a positive, supportive and inclusive research environment within the Quantum Science Research Group
Qualifications
* PhD in Physics or a related discipline (or near completion)
* Strong background in quantum information theory or related areas
* Skill to clearly express ideas and communicate within a team environment
* Ability to work independently on problems and motivate junior members of the team
* Capability to see the bigger picture and have vision for the future development of the project
* Demonstrated capacity to conduct theoretical research in quantum information theory
* Demonstrated capacity to co‑supervise research students on projects in this area, with assistance and mentoring from senior academic staff
* Familiarity with the theoretical methods of quantum error correction, and the theory of fault‑tolerant quantum computing
* Background in quantum information theory as applied to quantum many‑body systems and spin lattices
