Job Description
Portfolio & Programme Leadership
* Own the overall programme portfolio across ANZ, ensuring effective prioritisation, sequencing, and resourcing
* Balance competing programme demands and prevent siloed decision‑making
* Establish pragmatic governance, reporting cadence, and delivery discipline without unnecessary bureaucracy
* Drive reuse of lessons learned and continuous improvement across programmes
People Leadership
* Lead, develop, and coach a team of experienced Project / Programme Managers
* Create a collaborative, high‑trust environment where PMs are aligned to shared outcomes
* Act as a mentor and escalation point, not a micromanager
* Build capability and support progression within the programme function
Commercial & Customer Focus
* Partner closely with senior leadership, finance, and sales on programme‑level commercial decisions
* Step into customer and contractual issues where commercial judgement and long‑term relationships matter
* Balance margin protection with long‑term customer value and reputation
* Reduce reliance on executive intervention in programme escalations
Stakeholder & Business Integration
* Operate confidently in a matrix environment with global and regional stakeholders
* Serve as the ANZ Programme leadership interface as the business scales and integrates growth initiatives
* Support future growth activity, including potential M&A integration at portfolio level
The Successful Applicant
Experience & Background
* Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager, ideally in complex delivery environments such as:
o Engineering, infrastructure, capital equipment, defence, aviation, manufacturing, or similar
* Experience managing multiple programmes concurrently and leading PMs in a matrix organisation
* Strong grounding in commercial delivery, contract management, and financial awareness
* Familiarity with asset or lifecycle‑based delivery models is beneficial
This is not an IT PM or require deep technical expertise. Knowing how to lead people, structure delivery, and make sound judgement calls matters far more.
Leadership Style & Mindset
* High EQ and credibility, someone PMs trust and want to work with
* Comfortable leading at pace and making decisions in imperfect conditions
* Pragmatic, adaptable, and not wedded to "one way of working"
* Confident influencing without authority and working across cultures
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Formal Project / Programme Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or similar)
* Degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, business, project management) advantageous
