Position Details
1. Permanent Full-Time Position in the ABI Rehabilitation Centre
2. 80 hours per fortnight with flexible monthly ADOs
3. Social Worker Grade 2 Classification depending on experience (SC21-SC24)

The Department
The Social Work Department operates in accordance with the philosophy and goals of The Alfred. Its primary goal is to focus on quality of life and participation in care by addressing the psychosocial impacts of illness and hospitalization. The department supports patients and families through transitions from hospital to community and provides a range of services to enhance quality of life.
Position Summary
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to support patients with an acquired brain injury. Responsibilities include identifying and meeting the needs of this patient group, managing complex clinical cases, and collaborating with clinical units. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills are essential, along with flexibility and team collaboration. Building community linkages and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including agencies like NDIS, TAC, Workcover, and VCAT, are key components of this role.
Experience and Qualifications Required
* Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
* Bachelor of Social Work or recognized equivalent
* Experience in an acute hospital setting (preferable)
* Effective teamwork and family engagement skills
* Knowledge of NDIS, Aged Care, and TAC funding models (advantageous)
* Experience with electronic medical records
