Role Overview:
The Court Liaison Officer plays a vital role in assisting the Local Court Magistrate with diverting defendants who have or are suspected of having a mental illness, mental disorder or cognitive impairment from the Criminal Justice System into the community.
This position requires a high level of clinical expertise and effective communication skills to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to develop and implement treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:
* Divert defendants with mental health issues into community-based treatment options.
* Conduct mental health assessments and risk assessments to determine the best course of action for each defendant.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to develop and implement treatment plans.
* Provide clinical leadership and support to team members, including negotiation, problem-solving, and advanced written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:
* Postgraduate qualification in mental health.
* Current NSW Driver's Licence.
* Five years full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience, including at least three years in an acute mental health setting.
* Advanced mental health assessment, risk assessment and diagnostic interview skills; working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Legislation.

Professional Requirements:
* Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2: Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia; general registration with AHPRA.
* Clinical Psychologist: Four-year degree in psychology (or three-year degree with honours) or equivalent; general registration with AHPRA.
* OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST LEVEL 4: Qualifications registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; general registration with the Board.
* Social Worker Level 4: Bachelor's degree in social work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (or equivalent); five years post-registration clinical experience.
