With a loyal client base and a strong presence in the community, the firm is now seeking an experienced and proactive Practice Manager to lead the daily operations and support ongoing business growth.The RoleReporting directly to the Partners, the Practice Manager will oversee the firm's financial, administrative, HR, and compliance functions.
This is a key leadership role suited to someone who enjoys working across all aspects of business operations and brings a strong understanding of legal practice management.
Your ability to take initiative, drive improvements, and build trusted relationships across the firm will be essential.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial & Accounting ManagementManage all financial transactions including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, trust accounting, and general expense trackingPrepare financial reports for the Partners and Law Institute of VictoriaReconcile trust and operating accounts in accordance with legal regulationsOversee billing processes and liaise with external accountants during audits and year-end processesMonitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecastingOffice & Operations ManagementOversee daily administrative functions of the firmManage office infrastructure including IT systems, equipment, and suppliersMaintain and continuously improve internal systems, processes, and proceduresHuman Resources SupportCoordinate recruitment, onboarding, and training of legal and administrative staffMaintain HR records and ensure compliance with employment legislation and firm policiesCoordinate performance reviews and support employee development initiativesCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with legal industry regulations, trust account rules, and internal policiesMaintain firm licences, insurance, and vendor contractsSupport risk mitigation and compliance reviewsStrategic SupportWork closely with Partners on budgeting, planning, and strategic growth initiativesAnalyse business performance and recommend operational improvementsSkills & ExperienceExperience in a law firm or professional services setting in a similar roleStrong knowledge of legal accounting and trust account compliance (experience with LEAP and MYOB preferred)Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skillsHigh level of discretion, professionalism, and integrityDemonstrated long tenure in previous roles, reflecting commitment and reliabilityBenefitsThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a professional yet down-to-earth team that values collaboration, trust, and a positive working environment.
