About the Opportunity The prospect exists for a Specialist Infectious Diseases (ID) Physician to join the team at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) as either a Staff Specialist or as Head of Department ID & a Staff Specialist. 
There is also the optional opportunity to incorporate a minor Microbiology role for a suitably qualified candidate. 
LGH is Tasmania's second largest hospital, serving the North of the state and a population of approximately 250,000, with 330+ beds and a tertiary Intensive Care Unit. 
The LGH has teaching and research credentials with ties to the University of Tasmania Medical School and research supported by the Clifford Craig Foundation.

The Role: Staff Specialist ID Physician or Head of Department ID & Staff Specialist ID Physician, providing specialist care in ID Provide outpatient consultation to public patients across Northern Tasmania in specialist ID services Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required, including twice weekly critical care ID rounds Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Participate and lead the Antibiotic Stewardship Program There is the option to include Clinical Microbiology, in addition to the ID Physician role for a suitably qualified ID Physician What We're Looking For Fellowship training in Infectious Diseases or equivalent qualifications Proven leadership experience in clinical settings Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams Commitment to teaching and mentoring healthcare professionals Experience with quality improvement and patient safety initiatives What We Offer Competitive remuneration, comprehensive professional development opportunities, and the chance to make a genuine difference in community health.
