A range of other conditions may be required depending on the role.

About the teams

The Calculations and Analysis Team and the Analytics, Insights and Modelling Team both support the OFWO's compliance and litigation activities via the provision of time and wage calculations and underpayment analysis. Both teams work closely with other areas of the OFWO, including Fair Work Inspectors and Legal teams, to deliver thorough and accurate time and wage assessments as matters track towards an enforcement outcome. This also includes preparing dashboards, reports and presentations detailing the findings of analysis, including evaluation of any results and recommendations.

Typical Duties

The typical duties of a Senior Data Analyst include, but are not limited to:

* Designing and developing complex data analysis models and/or refine existing calculations solutions using R and SQL. This includes developing and building automation and calculation solutions to compare large and complex time and wage records against minimum entitlements contained in modern awards and enterprise agreements.
* Utilising proven data analysis approaches to analyse multiple sources of data to support investigators and prioritise evidence review.
* Generating data-driven reports and dashboards to assist investigation strategy and overcome challenges while managing resources and priorities to achieve timely and effective outcomes.
* Succinctly articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and providing recommendations to support decision makers and inform investigation strategy.
* Building effective relationships with stakeholders to understand matters, milestones, data and efficiently resolve issues in a timely manner.
* Building and enhancing in-house calculations capability both individually and within the team, via delivering structured group training and/or mentoring sessions.
* Effectively managing competing work priorities to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Selection Criteria

* Well developed analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated experience using technology to analyse complex data, evidence and documentation; draw accurate conclusions; and provide insights to support investigations and evidence based decision making.
* Demonstrated experience using R and/or SQL to analyse large and complex datasets for a range of use cases, including data validation, quality assurance, and producing analysis outputs; with familiarity in collaborative coding practices such as Git or DevOps and visualisation/reporting using PowerBI.
* Proven ability to exercise sound judgement, self manage work, prioritise competing tasks, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail, and identify and appropriately elevate risks or issues to ensure high quality outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including contributing positively to team outcomes and supporting or mentoring less experienced colleagues to build capability.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts and data insights, and to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including non technical audiences.

How to Apply

If you are interested in this opportunity, please tell us in no more than 800 words:

* Why you want to apply for this role?
* How your skills and experience address the selection criteria for this role.
