MSI Australia operates a network of 10 clinics, a national telemedicine service providing comprehensive termination of pregnancy, vasectomy services from 25 locations and national family planning support. The role As a Virtual Health Nurse, you ensure high quality and empathetic patient care is provided in line with best practice and patient safety during internal procedures, while maximising profit and streamlining processes virtually. You will assist patients by providing triage ranging from emergent to self-care, counselling on appropriate sexual and reproductive health care options, providing proactive health status management and identifying and managing plan participants to increase their ability to make informed decisions concerning their sexual and reproductive healthcare needs. Under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager, you will work within their entire scope of practice. You will be fully accountable for ensuring that the utmost in competent care and safety is consistently delivered to all patients. You will utilise online resources to assess medical symptoms, provide counsel on the most appropriate provider/facility/team to assure the most appropriate use of medical services. Additional responsibilities may include patient outreach, counselling and health and wellness education. Position title: Virtual Health Registered Nurse Department: MSI Gold Coast clinic/virtual health Reports to: Nurse Unit Manager Duration: Fixed Term, Part Time position available, until January 2026. Hours of work: 0.8 FTE (64 hours per fortnight/ 8 Shifts per fortnight). Please note - this role is required to be in person at our Gold Coast Clinic, located in Varsity Lakes. Your responsibilities: Timely desktop and conference-based reviews of clinical pre-assessments and medical documentation for clients accessing clinical services (care coordination). Telephonic/virtual triage of symptom-based calls, ranging from emergent to self-care outcomes. Escalating and liaising with key multidisciplinary health professionals to resolve complexities, identified throughout the virtual client journey. Providing pertinent health and wellness information to meet the needs of the client within your scope of practice. Assist the virtual health team and case management officers in coordinating external referrals. Maintain clinical and case records with accurate, concise, pertinent documentation, conforming to standard operating procedures and medical/legal guidelines. Recommend suitable treatment plans and consider cost-effective treatment modalities, within your scope of practice. Maintain the privacy and dignity of all clients whilst adhering to privacy and department policies. Monitor all client care and treatment, maintaining high standards of quality and safety at all times. Participats in the health education and explanation of treatment to clients and relatives, as required. Key Selection Criteria: Pro-choice and champion of women and pregnant people’s rights Passionate about de-stigmatising abortion, sexual and reproductive health Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration A caring, compassionate individual who enjoys helping others and providing a positive care experience in a telemedicine/virtual platform Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team Excellent planning, organisational and time managemen Advanced computer skills including typing speed, email, internet research, downloading and uploading files, and working in multiple browser windows. You should be extremely comfortable using new technology and software Excellent interpersonal and communication skills A strong patient centred care advocate skills Experience in day surgery, recovery, and sexual and reproductives health (desirable) Family Planning Certificate or Midwifery qualification (desirable) Detail-oriented, with the ability to problem solve, reaching out for help / support on client cases, as needed, and work cross functionally across clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure timely resolution of barriers to clients access appropriate services safely.
