The Food & Pharmaceutical Division operates a modern laboratory in Melbourne (Scoresby) that is equipped with the latest analytical technology. The division seeks an experienced Laboratory Technician to become part of the chemistry team on a permanent basis.
This hands‐on role involves preparing samples for analytical testing, ensuring accurate results within holding times, assessing results against expected values for food matrices, and maintaining efficient and safe lab operations to meet client turnaround goals.
Ideal candidates will have a science qualification or lab certificate, strong communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and client service. Experience in a high‐throughput lab environment is required.
Day to Day
* Processing food samples for analysis
* Ensuring samples are analysed within holding times
* Weighing and checking samples
* Fast‐paced work with accuracy required
* Completion of paperwork and transcription into LIMS
* Review and approval of other technician's results
* Ensuring client turnaround times are met
* Ensuring the laboratory operates in an efficient and safe manner
* Daily ad hoc tasks
Essentials
* Minimum of a laboratory certificate or qualification in science
* 3 years' experience in a food testing laboratory
* 3 years' experience with food testing wet chemistry techniques and/or laboratory instrumentation (e.g. HPLC, GC, LC‐MSMS, GC‐MSMS, ICPMS, ICPOES)
* Ability to work well in a team‐oriented environment
* Good communication and organisational skills
* A requirement to handle raw poultry, meat and fish in sample preparation on a daily basis
* Ability to undertake reasonable overtime as required
* Involved in daily housekeeping of the laboratory
* A strong commitment to client service
* Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety
* Previous experience in a high throughput, client‐focused environment, preferred
* Maintaining and improving quality processes
Eligibility
