Be responsible for supporting new and innovative Motor products, analysing improvement opportunities, and assisting with market and competitor analysis
The role
The Motor Insurance Product Specialist role reports to the Motor Product Manager and is responsible for supporting the identification, design, development and implementation of new and innovative Motor insurance products, options and benefits.
The role assists with the identification and analysis of new and/or improvement opportunities within the Motor insurance portfolio and supports enhancements to the existing Domestic Motor insurance product suite. It also involves assisting with market and competitor analysis, product development, and reviewing changes being made by other departments to ensure they align with the product intent and promise.
Position Accountabilities:
Support the ongoing review and evaluation of Australian and overseas insurance markets and emerging trends.
Contribute to assessing opportunities for profitable growth within the Australian Motor insurance market.
Help formulate recommendations for enhancing existing products and developing new offerings to strengthen the value proposition for customers, selling Partners, and A&G.
Support the design and development of approved new and innovative Motor products, options, and benefits, alongside enhancements to the existing product suite.
Support the monitoring and review of project progress and new product performance, including recommending corrective actions and assisting with post-implementation evaluations.
Assist with the set-up, launch, and ongoing online management of White Label Partner products.
Implement identified process improvements and/or system enhancements.
Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate product and system changes.
Review and assess insurance portfolio data to identify key trends and insights.
Compile reports and evaluate trends within the Motor insurance portfolio, providing feedback to enhance data quality and presentation of results.
Conduct competitor research and assessment to inform product strategy.
Engage with stakeholders to drive measurable commercial outcomes for the business.
What experience you'll bring
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
2+ years General Insurance (short tail) product/ portfolio management, underwriting, sales/ service (including insurance contact centre) and/or claim experience; exposure to product development and portfolio management specific to the Domestic Motor insurance space would be highly regarded
Sound knowledge/ understanding of short-tail insurance product(s), underwriting and rating methods, systems and procedures – including drivers and levers of profitable growth
Knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes, compliance and insurance legislation
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Good problem-solving ability
Sound numerical and analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation
Attention to detail and accuracy
A "can do", team-focused attitude
Ability to work autonomously while maintaining focus
Experience in managing and completing user acceptance testing
IT literacy and the ability to learn new systems
Working knowledge of common application software, e.g. MS Office suite; experience with SQL/ SAS would be a bonus
Ability to respond rapidly and positively to change and to work under pressure to deliver outcomes with competing priorities
