About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional AI Automation & Ecommerce Systems Lead to help us scale our ecommerce business without scaling headcount at the same rate.
This is a hands-on builder role for someone who understands ecommerce, digital marketing, automation, AI tools, workflows and commercial outcomes.
Your role will be to identify high-leverage manual work across the business, then build AI-powered workflows, automations and internal systems that reduce labour, increase output, improve marketing performance and help a small team operate like a much larger one.
This is not a role for someone who only uses ChatGPT casually or simply recommends tools. We need someone who can design, build, implement and improve practical systems that the team actually uses.
Key Responsibilities AI Automation & Workflow Building
4. Identify repetitive, manual or inefficient workflows across marketing, ecommerce, customer service, operations and reporting
5. Build AI-powered automations, agents, workflows and internal tools to reduce manual workload
6. Connect tools and systems using APIs, webhooks, Make, Zapier, n8n, Airtable, Google Apps Script, Python, JavaScript or similar
7. Create practical workflows that improve speed, output quality, accuracy and consistency
8. Document systems clearly so the team can use and maintain them
Ecommerce Growth & Marketing Systems
9. Build AI-assisted workflows across SEO, PPC, CRO, lifecycle marketing, content, creative production and analytics
10. Help scale content, landing page briefs, product copy, ad creative ideas, research and reporting
11. Improve marketing efficiency across channels such as Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, email/SMS and organic search
12. Support smarter creative testing, campaign analysis, customer research and competitor monitoring
13. Use AI and automation to improve website performance, conversion rate, AOV and customer journeys
Customer Service & Operations Automation
14. Identify opportunities to improve customer service efficiency using AI, automation and better knowledge systems
15. Build or improve AI-assisted response templates, macros, helpdesk workflows, FAQs and self-service flows
16. Use customer enquiry data to identify recurring issues, product questions, website friction and improvement opportunities
17. Help automate operational workflows across tasks, SOPs, planning, product research, supplier research and internal communication
Data, Reporting & Insights
18. Build dashboards and reporting workflows that give clear visibility across sales, marketing, customer service and operations
19. Use AI and data to identify growth opportunities, efficiency gains and business risks
20. Track the impact of automation projects on time saved, cost reduced, output increased and revenue improved
21. Present recommendations clearly and commercially to leadership

Essential Skills & Experience
27. Strong hands-on experience building AI automations, workflows, agents or internal tools
28. Practical understanding of ecommerce, digital marketing and customer journeys
29. Experience using AI to improve marketing, content, analysis, customer service, reporting or workflow efficiency
30. Experience with automation platforms such as Make, Zapier, n8n, Airtable, Relevance AI, Retool, Pipedream or similar
31. Ability to work with APIs, webhooks, data flows and system integrations
32. Strong understanding of prompt engineering, AI workflow design and reusable prompt systems
33. Experience with tools such as Shopify, Klaviyo, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Meta Ads, Google Ads, helpdesks or similar ecommerce platforms
34. Ability to turn messy processes into clean, usable workflows
35. Strong analytical skills and commercial judgement
36. Ability to move quickly, test ideas, implement solutions and improve over time
Highly Regarded
37. Python, JavaScript, Google Apps Script or SQL experience
38. Experience with RAG systems, embeddings, vector databases or AI knowledge bases
39. Experience building dashboards, reporting systems or internal tools
40. Experience with AI creative, image, video or content production workflows
41. Experience in D2C ecommerce, retail, consumer brands or digital agencies
42. Experience with Shopify-based businesses
43. Understanding of SEO, PPC, CRO, email marketing and lifecycle marketing
