WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS ROLE

If you're passionate about digital products, service excellence, innovation, and making tech work for real people - this role delivers.

You'll lead USU's combined product, service desk, and software development functions, and work closely with University ICT to ensure seamless, secure and future-ready systems.

Your decisions have impact every day - driving transformation across systems used by thousands of students and staff.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

In this role, you will:

Own digital product vision and roadmaps across platforms used by students and staff

Champion user-centric design and adoption through discovery, prioritisation and continuous improvement

Oversee service delivery, incidents, problem management and SLAs in partnership with University ICT

Lead application and cloud operations, cybersecurity, identity, and disaster recovery planning

Manage software delivery using modern DevOps and SDLC practices

Rationalise systems and vendors to drive efficiency, security and cost effectiveness

Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Lead and mentor a small team including software and product specialists

Influence organisational strategy through data, risk and technology insight

This is a role for someone who enjoys balancing strategy with delivery - who can zoom out to set direction, while also rolling up their sleeves to make things happen.

WHAT YOU BRING

You'll be a standout if you have:

8+ years across product management, IT service management and software delivery, including 3+ years people leadership

Experience in Agile/ITIL & cloud platforms

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement across technical and non-technical audiences

A continuous improvement mindset and a solutions-focused approach

Confidence navigating systems, vendors, digital tools and governance frameworks

Bonus points for:

Postgraduate qualifications

Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks, SaaS, procurement or vendor management

Understanding of university environments or not-for-profit organisations

Familiarity with C#, SQL, or web/cms administration

WHAT WE OFFER

Meal card for food and beverage – $15 per day

17.5% annual leave loading

Complimentary USU Rewards membership (discounts on and off campus)

Generous paid leave entitlements including 3 days of life leave and 5 additional paid leave days per year

Commitment to training, learning and development

Hybrid work environment and a strong sense of purpose
