**About the Position**
The Senior Development Planning Coordinator leads, coordinates and manages audit processes for development planning appeals, building and development compliance investigations across the region. The role involves providing best practice expertise and advice, working in partnership with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Providing leadership and management of the team in delivering planning appeals and compliance functions to achieve business objectives required to deliver on Council's corporate plan and its vision for the region and community.
* Contributing positively at an operational and strategic level to statutory compliance, policies, strategy, business and operational plans, change management, business decision-making, growth management and all other leadership initiatives.
* Partnering with relevant council and government agency stakeholders to maintain awareness of planning appeals, development audit and compliance management directions and issues at all levels.
This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as experience in development assessment functions, auditing and regulatory environments. The successful candidate will possess thorough knowledge of and extensive experience with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, policies, planning scheme and state government codes.
Requirements
* Recognised tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent workplace experience in development assessment functions such as urban planning or management, auditing and regulatory environments.
* Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills and experience to confidently lead and empower others, develop and coach team members and foster a workplace culture consistent with Council's values.
* Thorough knowledge of and extensive experience with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, policies, planning scheme and state government codes, in particular those associated with planning appeals, development offences, enforcement, notices, orders and legal proceedings in a local government environment.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on advocacy, liaison, consultation, building effective relationships and teams, negotiation, conflict resolution and assertiveness to resolve issues and meet changing organisational needs.
