Lab Specialist Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Lab Specialist to join our team in the on-site laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing chemical and instrumental analysis, with a quick and accurate turnaround of process control samples to meet customer requirements.
This role requires a high level of accuracy and troubleshooting skills, therefore adhering to site procedures and the Laboratory Quality Manual is essential. The Lab Specialist will work closely with the Chemist Team Leader and perform project task work, including process troubleshooting and method development as required.
The successful candidates will be residentially based or willing to relocate to Port Pirie or nearby surrounding region. We provide a generous relocation and salary package.
Main Responsibilities:
* Perform routine analysis of process control samples, accurately and timely to meet customer requirements.
* Develop and validate new analytical techniques and existing in-house methods.
* Identify defective or inaccurate equipment and assist in the troubleshooting process to resolve the issue.
* Evaluate irregular results and report to the Chemist Team Leader.
* Maintain laboratory equipment according to correct operating procedures as detailed in the Laboratory Quality Manual.
* Comply with relevant regulations, codes of practice and Port Pirie Smelter Standards & Guidelines.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in a Bachelor of Science or similar.
* Minimum 2 years' relevant experience.
* Familiarity with laboratory quality systems and Laboratory Information Management System (Labware) is desirable.
* Proficient in Microsoft suite of products particularly Excel, Word, Outlook.
