About the role
The Ballistic Support Officer is responsible for providing forensic ballistics support including the generation of physical evidence associated with firearms and prohibited weapons/articles in support of criminal and coronial investigations. This position provides vital support to the Ballistics Investigation Section, whose primary function is to deliver forensic ballistics expertise and technical advice to the NSW Police Force. The Ballistic Support Officer also supports the Weapons and Ordnance Disposal Unit. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a highly specialised and impactful area of forensic science.

Qualifications and Skills
* Knowledge of, or genuine interest in, the technical aspect of firearms.
* A genuine interest in the niche field of forensic ballistics.
* A strong work ethic.
* Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
* A focus on quality and professional standards.
* The ability to collaborate effectively and work with others in a productive and respectful manner.
* A capacity to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high quality outcomes.
* A permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen.
* Successful completion of a rigorous National Police criminal history check and ongoing security clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.

Remuneration
Base salary ranges from $84,659 to $92,701 plus employer's contribution to superannuation of 12% and annual leave loading.
