About The Role

We are searching for an experienced Aquatics Officer who can supervise and coordinate the day-to-day running’s of the leisure centres in Newman, Nullagine and Marble Bar. As an Aquatics Officer, your role will involve supervising staff, coordinating maintenance repairs in-line with the health regulations, assisting with events and activities and performing emergency procedures such as First Aid, crowd control and rescues when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Coordinator in daily operations of Newman, Nullagine & Marble Bar pools.
- Supervise staff including lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Monitor and maintain water quality and plant room operations.
- Respond to emergencies including First Aid and rescues.
- Maintain facilities to public and OH&S; standards.
- Coordinate with Parks & Gardens on lawn and irrigation upkeep.
- Report and organise urgent repairs and maintenance.
- Travel to or support staff in remote communities (4WD cert or willingness to obtain required).
- Assist in planning, promoting, and delivering community programs.
- Supervise events and ensure safety compliance during programs.
- Carry out administrative and financial tasks in line with Shire procedures.
- Support reporting on pool usage, memberships, and stock control.
- Contribute to marketing and promotion of facilities.
- Foster a positive team environment and staff development.
- Communicate effectively to support teamwork and resolve issues.
- Ensure a safe work setting under OH&S; legislation.
- Uphold the Shire’s Code of Conduct and values.
- Undertake other duties as required.
What You Will Need
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award
- Current HLTAID003 First Aid Certificate (or higher)
- Current WA Pool Plant Operator’s Certificate
- Working With Children Check (WA)
- LIWA Accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
- WA C Class Driver’s Licence
- Recent experience working in an aquatic facility
- Working knowledge of WHS legislation
- Experience in office administration
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Competent keyboard and computer skills
- Ability to apply relevant aquatic and leisure legislation/standards
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Be able to undertake or obtain an NPC
Desirable Criteria
- Current Bronze Medallion
- Recent aquatic facility management experience
- Experience in staff supervision
- Knowledge of WA Health Department Code of Practice for aquatic facilities
- Practical experience in facility maintenance
- 4WD Certification or ability to obtain
