What You’ll Do
As an Assistant Arborist, you will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the region’s green spaces. You’ll work closely with the Arborist team, assist in arboricultural and horticultural tasks, operate various plant and equipment, and support the upkeep of public assets. The role is hands-on and involves working at heights, using tools like chainsaws and elevated work platforms, and supporting community initiatives related to open space management.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, and elevated work platforms safely and effectively.
- Assist Arborists in tree maintenance, pruning, and removal tasks across Council-managed areas.
- Support the coordination of worksite activities and provide plant operation support.
- Carry out general horticultural and arboricultural maintenance and construction duties.
- Engage with community groups and other Council branches to support open space activities when required.
What You'll Bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience and skills in operating plant and equipment such as skid steer, loader, tractor, backhoe, stump grinder and elevated work platform.
- Demonstrated experience and qualification in the safe use and maintenance of chainsaws.
- Experience in undertaking arboriculturally related tasks.
- Demonstrated experience of working as a part of a team to achieve stated objectives.
- MR Drivers Licence.

- Certificate III in Arboriculture

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $59,561 to $69,219.
