The Role
A rewarding opportunity to join our team as a Horticulturist. You will work as part of a team that focuses on the maintenance and improvement of Council's Parks, Gardens, and other landscaped areas with a focus on Sylvan Grove Native Gardens. This opportunity is offered on a permanent full-time basis.
Duties
- Ensure gardens including annuals, native and non-native species, high-profile areas, traffic facilities and other landscaped areas are maintained in accordance with service requirements, service agreements, rosters and programs.
- Provide recommendations for mulching, watering, maintenance, embellishment and improvement and implement as required.
- Provide on-the-job skills development and training to staff.
- Undertake risk and hazard assessments of all areas under the crew\'s control and take corrective action where necessary.
- Identify, report and rectify landscape deficiencies especially in the area of gardens and landscape area maintenance.
- Provide assistance and advice to Council, management, staff, customers and the community when necessary.
- Ensure all works under the position holder\'s control are completed within timeframes.
- Finalise completion of works requests as allocated.

You Will Have
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Horticulture or a similar field
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent
- Experience in gardens maintenance
- Skills and experience necessary to fulfil the role, responsibilities, duties and competency requirements of the position
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + AWA CA + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
