Are you a Safety Coordinator ready for a challenging and rewarding step up? My client, a premier Tier 1 civil construction company, is seeking a proactive and experienced professional to join their team in a critical Safety Coordinator role. This is a fantastic chance to directly influence health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) across major projects in the region.

About My Client:

My client is a powerhouse in the Australian civil construction industry, known for delivering complex infrastructure projects and a steadfast commitment to safety excellence and operational integrity. You'll be joining a team where your expertise is valued and directly contributes to a world-class safety culture.

Position Objective:

You'll be the pivotal support for project teams, driving the successful implementation and continuous enhancement of safety, environmental, and quality systems across operational sites. Your work ensures absolute compliance with both legislative requirements and my client's rigorous organisational standards.

Safety, Environment & Quality Systems Leadership

- Promote and Implement: Champion safety, environmental, and quality standards, ensuring compliance and due diligence is met across all levels.

- System Integration & Development: Review and assist in the development of project-specific management plans and seamlessly integrate organisational systems at project commencement.

- Audit & Assurance: Conduct and lead project audits, including developing regional audit schedules, to ensure adherence to high standards.

- Expert Advice: Act as the HSEQ subject matter expert for construction and estimating teams, providing high-level technical guidance.

- Incident Management: Lead complex investigations into serious incidents, facilitating root cause analysis (e.g., using ICAM), and analysing incident trends to inform senior management.

- Documentation Control: Review and approve critical project documents, including Work Method Statements and Project Management Plans.

Injury Management & Training

- Workers Compensation: Provide crucial regional support to the National Injury Management Advisor for workers compensation claims, and diligently maintain injury records.

- Training & Development: Oversee regional employee training needs, advise on safety-specific requirements, and lead or coordinate major events like Safety Training Day.

- Communication: Develop engaging toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and award programs to foster a positive safety culture.

Strategic Leadership & Engagement

- Mentoring: Offer leadership and guidance to regional safety personnel, fostering their professional growth.

- Stakeholder Liaison: Represent the company in key forums, including client pre-start meetings, weekly foreman meetings, and senior management inspections/debriefs.

- Recruitment Support: Participate in the recruitment process for safety roles, including CV review and interview participation.

Operational Support

- Manage crucial logistical tasks, including coordinating drug and alcohol testing, equipment calibrations, managing safety consumable stock, and allocating safety resources to new projects.

- Attend tender handover meetings to fully grasp new project HSEQ requirements.

Your Credentials

To be successful in this high-impact role, you must possess a proven track record and the following essential qualifications:

- Minimum Qualification: Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
