Disability Support Worker
Mansfield Autism Statewide Services (MASS) is a highly regarded independent organisation which has been providing specialised services to people with Autism since 1968. We offer a wide range of services for individuals and families to live inclusive and productive lives.
MASS has disability support roles available within our Residential Care homes, working with participants of varying ages up to their mid 20's. You will work to support participants for short or medium term stays onsite in Mansfield to develop skills inclusive of everyday living, social and communication skills and emotional regulation.
About you:
* Keenness to work with people with Autism
* Willing to participate in additional training to support you in your role
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills
* Physically fit
* Availability to work the following:
* Weekday afternoon/evenings
* Weekends
* Sleepovers
* School Holidays – MASS residences provide services 365 days of the year
* Availability for 20+ hours per week
* Casual employment opportunity – potential to evolve into permanent part time position
* Range of positions available working with clients 4-25 years old across various settings
ABOUT THE ROLE
* Supporting clients with Autism in various Residential care settings
* Ensure clients' needs are met as outlined within their individual plans
* Help engage clients to positively develop life skills inclusive of toileting, self-care, personal hygiene, eating programs, sleep, setting daily routines & emotion regulation
* Proactively be involved in activities and programs
* Maintain accurate and detailed shift reports, incidents reports ad progress notes
* Ability to adapt well to change and manage challenging situations effectively
