Senior Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer (SMP) with strong delivery experience across steel piping, HDPE pipelines, dewatering systems, bore fields, pump stations, and electrical interfaces. The role requires a confident site‐based engineer who can operate effectively on a 2:1 FIFO roster, driving safe execution, contractor performance, and schedule discipline across multiple SMP work fronts.
The ideal candidate is known for resolving field engineering issues quickly, maintaining tight control of cost, progress, and quality, and ensuring construction activities align with engineering intent and site standards. This position suits a steady, solutions‐focused leader who consistently lifts performance in fast‐paced mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Steel piping installation, tie‐ins and brownfields integration
* HDPE pipelines, dewatering lines and high‐pressure water infrastructure
* Bore field upgrades, pump replacements and flow optimisation
* Pump station construction, mechanical assemblies and commissioning support
* SMP package coordination across structural, mechanical and piping scopes
* Electrical interface management for pumps, MCCs, instrumentation and controls
* Development and review of ITPs, RFIs, redlines, work packs and as‐built documentation
* Contractor supervision, progress tracking and safe work front management
* Cost, schedule, quality and change control across sustaining capital projects
* Strong collaboration with supervisors, planners, vendors and electrical teams
What you bring
* Qualified Mechanical Engineer with strong grounding in structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) delivery
* 10–15 years' experience in SMP project engineering within mining or heavy industrial environments
* Proven experience working in the mining and resources industry, delivering SMP and water infrastructure scopes
* Strong delivery capability across steel piping, HDPE pipelines, dewatering lines and bore field infrastructure
* Demonstrated experience with pump station construction, mechanical assemblies and commissioning support
* Ability to manage electrical interfaces, including pumps, MCCs, instrumentation and controls
* Skilled in developing and reviewing ITPs, RFIs, redlines, work packs and as‐built documentation
* Strong contractor leadership with disciplined cost, schedule and change control
* A collaborative, solutions‐focused approach suited to high‐pressure FIFO environments
