Sutherland Shire Council is hiring a Development Planner in Sutherland Shire, New South Wales.
Responsibilities
* Assess development applications to ensure compliance with planning regulations and statutory requirements.
* Provide expert advice to planning managers and produce comprehensive reports for planning panels.
* Coordinate referrals, manage the application lifecycle from initiation through determination, and deliver exceptional customer service.
* Engage with stakeholders, foster community development, and support sustainable growth.
* Prepare clear, compliant reports for various audiences.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related field.
* Proven experience assessing development applications in a local government context.
* Familiarity with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
* Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
* Excellent analytical and communication abilities.
* Ability to prepare clear, compliant reports (mandatory).
* Desirable: experience presenting reports to councils and external panels, and negotiation or mediation training.
