Description:
The role of Principal Naval Architect is a pivotal position within the engineering domain, specializing in naval architecture with a strong focus on leading a team of engineers.
About the Position:
* As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design inputs and installation engineering aspects of offshore structures.
* Your expertise will encompass conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and designs as per project specifications, codes, and standards.
* You will lead a team of engineers to ensure seamless collaboration and successful project execution.
Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities:
* Provide installation loads on offshore structures to structural engineering teams for structural design purposes.
* Perform detail installation engineering calculations to confirm installation loads are within permissible capacities of installation equipment.
* Evaluate limiting weather conditions for offshore installations without overloading installation equipment or installed structures.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Guide less experienced engineers on MDR and discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, auditors, third parties, etc.
* Supervise and guide assigned engineers and coordinate with lead designers for discipline engineering and design deliverables.
* Ensure the engineering integrity of assigned work areas.
* Monitor costs of own work processes.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* A minimum of 15-20 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, predominantly leading a team of engineers.
* Bachelor's degree in naval architecture (master's preferred).
* Detailed knowledge of installation techniques and analysis methods, and theory, content, and application of standards, codes, and guidelines applicable to the role.
Collaboration and Communication:
Liaise effectively with engineering disciplines, fabrication group, marine group, hookup group, safety department, project management team, document control, project planner, project cost controller, qc and certification group, procurement group, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
Reporting Structure:
Report directly to the Manager (Construction Support Engg).
Development Opportunities:
Participate in the development and maintenance of global procedures, software, and standards. Identify and provide training to staff in specific techniques and proprietary software.
