**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director, Planning within the Planning and Quality Branch.
The Assistant Director, Planning will assist the Director, Planning with advice and technical expertise to guide and manage project and program activities in the Planning section and across the Finance and Property Services Division where activities link to other sections.
The position will also manage administrative tasks and support Executives with reporting requirements and ensure alignment to objectives using appropriate benchmarks and financial analysis.
**Who we are looking for**:
- have the proven ability to develop comprehensive Initial Business Cases for new projects, integrating departmental objectives such as universal accessibility, sustainability, CREs, and asset management principles
- have demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining professional governance frameworks and policy documentation, and experience in producing a range of professional documents
- have demonstrated capability in assisting and supporting senior management with key tasks and projects, offering strategic insights and recommendations, backed by sound judgement and analytical skills, and the ability to support governance activities for committees
- posess excellent written communication and attention to detail, effective time management and prioritisation skills, and proficiency in using departmental systems and leveraging technology to enhance processes
- have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and
- show a proven commitment to building and sustaining a positive workplace culture and promoting a collaborative, inclusive and respectful environment.
**Job Specific Requirements**:
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

**Immediate supervisor**:Director Planning
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 1 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Develop Initial Business Cases (IBC) for new projects, integrating objectives from throughout the department, including universal accessibility, sustainability, CREs, and the Asset Management Plan.
2. Develop and maintain professional governance frameworks and policy documentation to align with departmental goals and support effective decision-making and accountability.
3. Prepare a range of written material, including agency briefs and corporate documentation, and maintain thorough and accurate documentation and record keeping in compliance with departmental policy and relevant legislation.
4. Assist and support the Director Planning with priority tasks, section projects and provide strategic advice and recommendations to support the section deliverables, including governance support for the APH Accommodation Committee.
5. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and proactive engagement and cultivate a cooperative working environment.
6. Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture by promoting teamwork, respect, and open communication, and by encouraging professional development and continuous improvement among staff.
